Moon Gate Pouch

Description

Traditionally a Moon Gate is a feature in Chinese gardening, although there is a great abundance of them in Bermuda. A Moon Gate is a circular gate or doorway in a wall with a path leading through it. It is said to symbolise joy and happiness, so naturally a great addition to one’s garden.

I carved the actual stamp for this pouch during the super moon/blue moon of January 2018. To me, the Moon Gate symbolises a mystic voyage and peace and happiness therein. Our dear dog Ozzy died on the 4th of February 2018 so to me my Moon Gate stamp was very much created for him.

First the blue/green cotton was sprayed with silver coloured textile paint. Then I hand printed the pouch with a hand carved Moon Gate stamp on my etching press, see the last photo. I finished the fabric pouch with dark teal coloured poly-satin ribbon, silver coloured ribbon, clear plastic beads and bubble-esque turquoise plastic beads. The pouch is lined with silver coloured poly-satin.

It is great for storing all sorts of things, such as: Tarot Cards (the pouch will fit a deck of 70mm x120mm tarot cards), Gem Stones, Rune Stones, Dice, Jewellery and whatever else you can think of.
